Geological Surveys

When designing buildings and structures, it is necessary to study the area intended for construction, identify soil characteristics, and determine their deformation and strength properties. Conducting engineering-geological surveys allows for a detailed examination of the construction site and prepares the area for construction activities.

Geological surveys involve several branches of production: surveying, geology, and ecology. Geological studies include:

• Studying the natural structure of the site and the physical and mechanical properties of soils used as foundation bases;
• Determining the bearing capacity and heaving potential of rocks, as well as the corrosion activity of soils;
• Considering hydrogeological forecasts and subsequent changes in climatic conditions during the construction and operation of the planned structure;
• Implementing measures to protect structures from adverse environmental effects, physical-geological processes, and phenomena.
