Soil Investigations

Soil-reclamation investigations are conducted to obtain a general understanding of the geomorphology of the area, soil and vegetation cover, hydrogeological conditions, causes and degree of waterlogging, as well as the composition of land plots and their agricultural value. This information is necessary to determine the feasibility and advisability of developing the site and to preliminarily identify the most effective methods and ways of drainage and land development. Based on comprehensive route surveys, a technical-economic report or a preliminary development scheme of the site is prepared, accompanied by an explanatory note justifying the feasibility and effectiveness of the planned reclamation activities.

Soil-reclamation investigations ensure: - Obtaining a complete characterization of the fertile and potentially fertile soil layers on lands to be disturbed, including their thickness, removal order, storage conditions, and subsequent use; - Identifying the properties and characteristics of soils and mixtures on disturbed lands for preparing technical or biological reclamation projects; - Obtaining data on soil characteristics and properties on low-productivity lands, necessary for developing design solutions to increase their productivity by applying additional fertile soil layers.
